Do I need to file taxes in India as an NRI?
It depends. Any individual, including an NRI, whose Indian income earned exceeds the basic exemption limit must file ITR for that year. Under the old regime, this threshold is 2.5 lakhs and under the new regime it is 4 lakhs.
